Public presentations
Every month, Lawrence Bird Alliance sponsors a free public talk on a wide array of interesting topics about the environment. Our guest speakers have included authors, filmmakers, professors, photographers, policymakers, and many other local and regional experts.

Our events are generally held the fourth Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at Carnegie Hall in Lawrence.

Field Trips
Looking to join other birders on a trip? Check out the Calendar to see what’s coming up. You should find details on time and meeting location as well as a contact for more information. Most of our field trips will focus on birds and birding but we also try to share what some of the other area groups might have to offer. Beginners and visitors are always welcome and we can usually provide binoculars and field guides for those needing them for the day.

Kaw Valley Eagles Day
The annual Kaw Valley Eagles Day celebrates the return of bald eagles to area lakes and rivers. This free event features live birds of prey and other wild critters to help us appreciate these glorious animals.

It’s an event for the whole family, featuring lots of hands-on educational and fun activities for kids. Our next Eagles Day will be Jan. 18, 2020.

Plants for Birds
Lawrence Bird Alliance has joined with National Audubon to promote the planting of native plants to benefit birds. With the help of local native plant experts, we have developed guidelines for creating a bird-friendly garden that will provide food, shelter, and nesting spots for resident and migratory birds.

Seed, Feeder and Book Sales
You can stock up on your seed favorites such as black oil sunflower, economy or premium bird mixes, finch mixes, peanuts & suet cakes, and more at one of our three annual seed sales held in late October, early December, and again at the end of January or early in February. Preorder forms are available in our newsletters and on this website prior to the sales. Check the Calendar for dates.

We also sell feeders and books at various events including the Kaw Valley Seed Fair and Eagle Days.
Learning About Nature
The Learning About Nature Program (LANP) provides students in the Lawrence area with field trips to local natural areas. Students from KU's environmental education classes assist with the outings.

This year, all 7th graders in the Lawrence School District will have the opportunity to participate in the LANP program. Learn more here.
