Jayhawk Audubon is the chapter of the National Audubon Society serving Lawrence, Douglas County, and surrounding communities in eastern Kansas.


Our mission is to provide opportunities for greater understanding and appreciation of birds and other wildlife, to encourage sustainable practices, and to advocate for actions and policies which result in protection and preservation of intact ecosystems.

Join us! All of our resources are available to the public free of charge and our meetings and field trips are always open to the public. If you would like to become a member, the cost is just $10 per year to be a local member or $20 per year to be a local and national member, which includes a subscription to the beautiful Audubon magazine. Eagles Day

Kaw Valley Eagles Day is Saturday, Jan. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Free State High School. Click here for more information.

Jan. 27, 7 p.m., Baker Wetlands Discovery Center. Join us to hear about nest monitoring in an Argentine penguin colony. Our speaker is Susan Iverson, who in November 2018 joined an Earthwatch expedition to study the nesting success of Magellanic penguins on Patagonia's Atlantic coast.

Bird seed sales

Support your local Audubon chapter by purchasing seeds, feeders and books at one of our three sales. All sales will be held at the Lawrence Senior Center, 745 Vermont, in the Connolly Room. Sale dates are:
Saturday, 02/01/2020 10am ~ 1pm
